Welcome to Spring & Vitamin D!

I’m really not sure where February went as it doesn’t seem that long since I was saying Happy New Year!! At last the sun is warming up, the evenings getting a bit longer and finally I feel like we are beginning to get into slightly warmer days!  Spring is the ideal time to really start trying to get out in the (safe) sun – when it’s out! It is so important to get Vitamin D as most of us will be low in it from the winter. Try and make the most of sunny days and get out without suncream on to make the most of it. It helps bones, energy levels and overall health. It is estimated that sensible sun exposure on bare skin for 5-10 minutes 2-3 times per week allows the body the ability to produce sufficient vitamin D. Despite this, recent studies have suggested that up to 50% of adults and children worldwide are vitamin D deficient so get on out there!
